The exclusive Resistance X-Wing is a highly detailed replica of the Blue Squadron Incom T-70 fighter from Episode VII, The Force Awakens. We really love the updated design of the X Wing. The space frame has a more pronounced angular design than the old X-Wings, and this is most noticeable by tracing the lines from the front of the canopy forward to the sensor housing ( nose section). The S-Foils have been redesigned as well, as they no longer separate along the horizontal plane, but rather the chord. They truly have a pronounced X shape configuration to them. The leading edge of the S-Foils are angled for the cannons to mount to. The engine nacelles have been redesigned as well. They look more like the original concept art, in that they appear to be two engines rather than four. In reality, the nacelles use design blending to reduce their overall mass. Right out of the box, this thing is awesome. Once you pull the tray out of the box you'll see the fighter itself, with the cannons, canopy, and nose section being the only parts that require assembly. The nose cone ( sensor housing) simply slides on, while the canopy and cannons peg into place by gently pressing them in. Be certain to note that the cannons are designed specfically for both the top and bottom S-Foils. The two with closer slots go on top, while the pair with wider slots fit on the bottom. There are also four decals that are taped to the tray which are to be placed inside the cockpit in front of the pilot. I've read previous reviews that complained of bent parts, but this wasn't the case with mine. If you do encounter warped pieces like the cannons, you may contact Hasbro's consumer affairs department and they will send out a free replacement. The Pilot figure has some nice details, especially with his helmet having the Resistance fire bird emblem done in Blue Squadron's colors. The pilot also comes with a Blaster rifle as well. Again, some reviews complained that the pilot barely fit inside the cockpit, or that the canopy would not close and lock into place. This is not a real issue. You simply place the figure inside the cockpit, then recline him as far back as possible to give the canopy enough overhead clearance without touching the top of his helmet. As with previous smaller X-Wing toys, the forward landing strut will pivot down, but there is no rear landing struts; only two fixed pegs for the engines to rest on. On top you will find a replica BB -8 droid in the astromech socket. His head swivels, and pressing down on him will lock the S-Foils into attack position. Pressing the small button behind BB-8 will lock them again into cruising position.
